Belle of Louisville Brings Back Comedy Caravan Cruises

May 29, 2012

By popular request, the Belle of Louisville is renewing a partnership with Comedy Caravan to offer a series of late night comedy cruises on the Spirit of Jefferson. Each moonlight cruise will feature a group of comedians who will both entertain and emcee the two hour excursion.  The first Comedy Caravan Cruise is scheduled for Friday, June 1st , with boarding at 10:30 pm and the cruise departing at 11:00 pm and returning at 1:00 am.

The Comedy Caravan is pleased to be back for our 2nd year with the historic Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson,  and bring back our popular “Comedy On The River” moonlight comedy cruises.  “Last year this was so popular, we began getting inquiries as soon as the 2011 season was over, as to when the 2012 season would kick off.  This partnership is important to Louisville, bringing together two iconic Louisville legends,” said Darrell Holladay, the president and owner of Comedy Caravan. “It’s a privilege to be working with the Belle & Spirit, and to be part of this unique arrangement to provide Louisville with the best comedians in the industry.  As Comedy Caravan celebrates our 25th year, we’re happy to have this additional opportunity to work with the Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson.”

The remaining Friday Comedy Caravan Cruises are scheduled for July 6th, August 3rd, September 7th, October 5th, November 2nd and December 7th. Each cruise boards at 10:30 pm, departs at 11:00 pm and returns at 1:00 am.   Tickets are $21 per person with concessions, full-service bar and gifts available for purchase.

A Schedule Packed with Entertainment for all Ages

The Belle has a full schedule of family fun scheduled for another great season, with a variety of cruises on both the historic steamer and her sister boat, the Spirit of Jefferson.  In addition to the Friday night comedy cruise on the Spirit, Saturday Family Fun Days from 12:00 – 2:00pm and Sunday Bluegrass cruises each weekend on the Belle will feature live music from local bluegrass bands from 2:00-:400 pm.  Both the Belle and Spirit offer a variety of lunch, dinner and sightseeing cruise all season leading up to a fun filled family picnic scheduled for Labor Day, Monday September 3rd, from 12:00-2:00 pm on the Belle.  A magician will be on board to entertain passengers, the gift shop and concession stand will be open, and full service bar will offer a variety of drink specials.

“There are so many people looking for different ways to celebrate the holiday,” said Linda Harris, CEO of the Belle.  “Our cruises offer fun for families by day, and for the late night crowd on Friday.”
