Louisville, KY: For the second year in a row, Home Depot will be hosting a volunteer and renovation day for the Belle of Louisville. Scott Krueger, manager of the Home Depot on Westport Road and organizer of the volunteer effort, is organizing Home Depot employees to help the Belle get ready for her 100th birthday season. On March 20, the well-known American retailer will provide a substantial amount of supplies and 40-60 volunteers, who will turn out to help paint, work on the grounds, clean and ready the Belle for cruising.
Home Depot’s efforts to spiff up the Belle are especially important this season because she will be hosting 8 other riverboats at Louisville’s waterfront for her birthday celebration and the Centennial Festival of Riverboats, scheduled for October14-19, 2014. Keeping up with the Belle’s maintenance needs also helps with the preservation of this National Historic Landmark.
