The Belle of Louisville & Waterfront Park help with your New Year’s Resolutions for 2013
1. Get in shape/lose weight
Totaling 85 acres, including the 14-acre Great Lawn, Waterfront Park is the perfect place to come out and stretch your legs. With approximately 40 walks and runs hosted every year there is no excuse not to come downtown to burn some calories, especially if it’s for a good cause. If you’re feeling very ambitious, try challenging yourself to complete a run up the Big Four ramp and all the way across the soon to be completed Big Four Bridge to whip that body back into shape.
2. Spend more time with Family
As the kids get older and you become busier, you tend to realize how fast time flies after it’s too late. Spending a day climbing all over the adventure playground or a few hours aboard the historic Belle of Louisville are things that everyone in the family will remember for years. Be sure to look up family cruises aboard the Belle and special events going on in the Park to guarantee that you and your family become closer this year than you have ever been.
3. Quit Smoking
This one may sound a little clichéd, but we know some of you out there are still trying to quit! Being the National Historic Landmark that she is, and currently owned by the City of Louisville, the Belle has been smoke free since 2008. Taking a 2-hour (cigarette free) cruise up river may not make you kick the habit completely, but could be a great first step for your 2013 resolution to be smoke free.
4. Learn something new
Admit it. Many of you have lived in Louisville for years and haven’t been on the Belle in decades, or maybe even ever! Did you know that the Belle will be turning 100 years old in 2014, or that some of her passengers have included everyone from John Wayne to Ginnifer Goodwin? Just one cruise aboard this National Historic Landmark and we know that you will walk away just a little brighter than before you boarded.
5. Enjoy life more
If there is one thing that we have learned this year, it’s that life is too short to take for granted. Regardless of your interests, there is something in Downtown Louisville for everyone. Get out of the house and take some time out of your busy life to do the things you love. Watch the sun set over the river, teach your child how to ride his first bike, get on your concert clothes and sing your heart out at a Waterfront Wednesday event. Whatever you decide to do just get out and enjoy life more, ensuring that 2013 is your greatest year yet.
