Concessions/Photography Associate

SUMMARY

Ahoy! Join our crew this season as a Concessions and Photography Associate. This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the hospitality and tourism industries, all while supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Food & Beverage Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as preparing and selling food and beverage items, photographing guests as they come aboard, selling souvenir photos and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Photograph passengers as they board the boats.
  • Obtain or receive food and beverage items, set up displays and stock shelves, counters, coolers and bins.
  • Prepare and serve food and beverage items, restocking food items as needed.
  • Answer questions regarding food and beverage prices, merchandise, etc.
  • Print and sell souvenir photos.
  • Clean concession area and souvenir stand, including (but not limited to) sweeping and mopping, polishing brass trim, cleaning shelves, bins, counters, utensils and equipment, etc.
  • Operate and verify cash drawer, including balancing contents at beginning and end of each shift, totaling prices and receiving payments, recording sales on summary log sheet, etc.
  • Cross-trained to work at bar (if 21 & over), if needed.
  • Performs related work and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Excellent customer service skills

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age.
  • Willing to work varied schedule, which may include mornings, evenings and holidays.
  • Must wear safety equipment as mandated by the U.S Coast Guard.
  • Submit to and pass alcohol and drug test as mandated by the USCG including pre-employment, random and post-accident testing.
  • Able to tolerate hot and cold environments.
  • Able to transit stairs.

Guest Services Associate

SUMMARY

This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the hospitality and tourism industries, all while supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Guest Services Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as booking cruise reservations, selling souvenirs and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process cruise reservations, souvenir and membership sales and provide information to guests about cruise bookings, costs and dates of availability and resolve problems.
  • Answer multi-line phones regarding cruise reservations, booking questions and more.
  • Create flower and balloon bouquets and deliver them to boats ahead of cruises.
  • Assemble boarding materials for guests ahead of cruises.
  • Scan tickets and distribute boarding materials to guests during cruise boarding.
  • Receive merchandise, mark or tag prices on merchandise and stock display cases.
  • Operate and verify cash drawer, including balancing contents at beginning and end of each shift, totaling prices and receiving payments, etc.
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

Bartender

SUMMARY

Ahoy! Join our crew this season as a Bartender. This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain experience in bartending and the hospitality and tourism industries, all while supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Food & Beverage Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as mixing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages onboard cruises, arranging liquor bottles for display and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mix and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages following standard recipes.
  • Prepare bar area prior to each cruise, including removing bottles from liquor cabinet and arranging them for display, chill beer and wine in refrigerator, stocking supplies, etc.
  • Slice and peel fruit and place items in container for garnishing drinks.
  • Clean and sanitize counters and bar area, wash utensils and equipment and polish brass.
  • Operate and verify cash drawer, including balancing contents at beginning and end of each shift, totaling prices and receiving payments, recording sales on summary log sheet, etc.
  • Cross-trained to work in concessions, photos and souvenir retail (if needed).
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Three months of bartender experience

Deckhand

SUMMARY

Ahoy! Join our crew this season as a Deckhand. This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the maritime and tourism industries, all while supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Vessel Operations Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as handling mooring lines and rigging, assisting passengers while boarding and disembarking the boat and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Handle mooring lines and rigging to launch and dock the boat.
  • Perform as a navigational watchman while underway, including watching the water for obstacles, swinging the stage following launch and secures bow lines and more.
  • Assist with boarding of the vessels, including assisting the photographer, greeting passengers, operating the chair lift, etc.
  • Participate in weekly emergency procedure drills including man overboard, fire, abandon ship, emergency steering training and Marsec training.
  • Perform custodial and maintenance tasks, such as general grounds and landscape upkeep, cleaning the dance floor and decks, post-cruise cleanup, etc.
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

Engineer Assistant

SUMMARY

Ahoy! Join our crew this season as an Engineer Assistant. This seasonal position is perfect for those looking to gain engineering experience in the maritime and tourism industries while also supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—as well as our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Vessel Operations Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as performing boiler water tests, monitoring and operating steam pumps and much more.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform boiler water tests prior to cruise departure; record results and add treatment chemicals as determined by Watch Engineer.
  • Lubricate equipment with various oils and greases prior to vessel departure.
  • Fire and tend to boilers aboard vessel to maintain steam pressure.
  • Operate main engines according to Pilot House commands.
  • Assist with electrical power transfers, boiler fuel transfers, potable water transfers and vessel sewage transfers.
  • Monitor & operate steam pumps while underway.
  • Perform maintenance and cleaning tasks on engineering spaces and equipment such as remove and replace insulation or lagging around pipes and boilers, painting engineering spaces and equipment, etc.
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.
  • PREFERRED EDUCATION

    • A certificate from a vocational program in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, Diesel Mechanics, Plumbing, Electricity, or a related field preferred.
    • OR

    • Two years of boiler and cooling systems; heating, ventilation, or air conditioning; diesel engine, mechanical, electrical, plumbing or pipe fitting experience.
    • REQUIREMENTS

      • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
      • Must wear safety equipment as mandated by the U.S. Coast Guard.
      • Must be physically capable of performing job duties in an unusually noisy and hot environment, including correctable vision, hearing, use of extremities, ability to ascend and descend stairs, ability to lift loads up to 75 pounds
      • Must be able to work from ladders and scaffolding
      • Must be comfortable working in confined spaces or over open waters.

Night Watchman

SUMMARY

Ahoy! Join our crew this season as a Night Watchman. This seasonal position is perfect for those with an interest in security and the maritime industry and/or looking for a third-shift position. Not only will this position be supporting our two National Historic Landmarks—the Belle of Louisville and Life Saving Station #10—but also our third vessel, Mary M. Miller. As a member of the Vessel Operations Team, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks, such as monitoring and patrolling the boats and wharf area, checking mooring lines and much more. No experience? No worries! Training is provided.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patrol and monitor both the boats and wharf area at all times to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and illegal entry.
  • Make rounds to checkpoints throughout vessel and enter data into the Detex security wand to document rounds being made.
  • Examine windows, doors and locks to assure they are secure.
  • Respond to security and fire alarms and contact police or fire departments.
  • Answer phones, give information to the public and respond to emergency phone calls.
  • Inspect fire stations to verify that extinguishers and other firefighting equipment is stored in designated locations throughout the boats.
  • Check and adjust mooring lines to compensate for water level changes.
  • Raise and lower flags on the boats and the wharf.
  • Perform related work and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must adhere to rules and guideline mandated by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
